Artist Statement

I have been making work in Raku since 1998.

I am influenced by the potters of Japan and Korea, as well as ceramics from antiquity and modern studio pottery and sculpture traditions. My pots are inspired by the idea of ceremonial funtion, and as such are sculptural objects on a domestic scale.

I enjoy working in Raku as it enables me to intervene and develop the surface texture and colour, as well as a range of mettalic lustre. It is always unique and exciting and I never tire of the excitement of firing pots and it's unique unpredicatability!

I exhibit my work in galleries in England and Wales, and have work represented by “Curocarte”based in Mumbai, India, which is an Asian based interior design company.
